Contaminated soil
Contaminated soils treatment
Contaminated soils are soils that upon an incident or an accident were contaminated with materials that are hazardous to the environment or semi hazardous (such as different kinds of oils and fuels), are a substantial harm to the land, the people and the environment. The level of hazard depends of course on the contaminants penetrating to the soil.
The immediate and clear hazard is to the ground water that can be fatally polluted immediately up to seize their drinking potential. The proportion of contamination in such an event is so extreme that one liter of contaminant factor may cause pollution in up to one Million (!) liters of ground water.
It is the possible that one single event with even small scale of materials spill into the ground may cause an immediate contamination to big amounts of soil. Therefore there is extremely high importance to clear the land and evacuate the contaminated soil as a matter of urgency, in order to prevent the infiltration of the contaminating material and the trickling of it down to the groundwater (that may differ in their distance from the surface in different locations).
Accordingly it is essential that upon an incident such as mentioned, the client will have a quick and qualitative response that also meets the requirements of the law.
SEC Israel provide quick, credible and qualitative service for handling of the event including all relevant steps towards clear and renewable situation.
Phases of handling a contaminated soil event:
- Perform land survey.
Land survey is a preliminary phase with the purpose of determining the type and the exact material of the contamination and the level of the contamination in different parts of the land at hand. The results of the survey determine where, and how deep to dig and the destination of the contaminated soil after evacuation.
- Digging the soil out.
- Transit of the soil to an authorized and suitable (to the specific contamination) site.
- Possible treatment on-site (In-Situ).
- In case required – bringing new clean soil to the location instead of the contaminated.
- Providing the client with relevant and proper treatment certificate.
- Providing the client with thorough report of the event.
